Several common dental diseases suitable for root canal therapy

    Pulpitis

Pulpitis refers to the inflammation of the dental pulp, which refers to the blood vessels and nerve tissues inside the teeth. When these tissues are inflamed, the pain is generally obvious. It can cause tooth pain in cold and heat, sometimes bite pain, and even severe pain at night. Sometimes, pain radiates to the head and face, which will be mistaken for headache by patients.

The vast majority of pulpitis can not be eliminated by itself. If the treatment is not timely, it will further cause periapical periodontitis and other more serious consequences, and even eventually lead to tooth extraction. Therefore, once you have pulpitis, you need to carry out thorough root canal treatment, remove the infected pulp, seal the root canal with artificial materials, and eliminate the way of reinfection, so as to relieve the pain and save the affected teeth.

    Periapical periodontitis

The vast majority of periapical periodontitis is developed from pulpitis. When pulpitis (that is, inflammation inside the teeth) is not treated in time, it will develop to the root of the teeth, causing inflammation of the tissues around the root, which is periapical periodontitis. We can think that periapical periodontitis is caused by the diffusion of inflammation inside the teeth to the outside of the teeth.

When suffering from periapical periodontitis, the teeth will have occlusal pain, sometimes severe and sometimes relatively mild. When the inflammation is acute, it will cause the teeth to loosen to a certain extent, and sometimes there will be gum swelling or pus discharge. However, some patients with periapical periodontitis do not feel too much discomfort because of their strong resistance and the chronic process of inflammation. No matter what type of periapical periodontitis, it will not heal without treatment.

    Traumatic and cracked teeth

Sometimes the teeth will be broken due to accidental injury, but the root condition is still good. In this case, the root can be saved by root canal therapy and then repaired. The so-called cracked teeth mean that there are some cracks on the surface or inside of the teeth. Some of these cracks are easy to find, and some can only be found after careful examination. If the cracks are very deep, they will cause symptoms similar to pulpitis or periapical periodontitis in the teeth. Root canal treatment is required, and crown repair should also be carried out.

    Repair needs

Although some teeth do not have inflammation, they need to be treated with root canal therapy in some restorative designs because of their incorrect position or size deformity, and then make crowns to achieve cosmetic effects. After some teeth are missing, root canal treatment should be carried out on the teeth on both sides of the missing teeth, and then the crown should be designed as a whole to restore the function of the missing teeth.

The above four conditions roughly cover the scope of application of root canal therapy. Root canal therapy is an important method to solve pulp disease. When the above conditions occur, root canal therapy must be carried out under the operation of professional dentists. Only timely and thorough root canal therapy can solve pulp problems and save the affected teeth.
